Zanzibar is known as the Spice Island. From the 16th to the 19th century, the spice trade across the Atlantic and Indian Oceans boomed, and Zanzibar’s story has been tied to spices ever since. Visit a spice farm, or stay on the beach.

Day 4: Optional Stone Town and Shopping Tour
Stone Town, or Mji Kongwe (“Old Town” in Kiswahili), was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Wander its narrow lanes, carved doors and markets.
